"Not all of us are lucky enough to have the option of social distancing in the mountains of Vermont, but based on Francesca Blanchard’s video for her latest cut from Make It Better, the prospect certainly looks appealing. The French-born songwriter filmed the visual for the title track from her forthcoming sophomore album as a recreation of a personal routine she carried out before the song was out in the world.
“Whenever I’m in dire need of returning to myself, I’ll turn my face towards the sun and go climb a mountain,” she shares. “Over the past year, I have danced alone to this song on mountaintops in my headphones, reliving the elation I discovered when I wrote it. It’s been a sort of private, secret celebration. Now that the song is no longer mine to keep, I wanted to share that dance with others, to bring it to life.”
Check out the video below—which feels a bit surreal in that the visual is slightly slowed down, yet Francesca’s lip-syncing still matches the upbeat audio—and expect Make It Better to be out June 12."
